The aim of the project was to trial and develop tablets as tools for use in teacher training supervision.
The project’s purpose was to investigate and develop the usage of tablets in the observation and supervision of practical training periods in teacher training programmes. A central assumption was that this might contribute to strengthening the connection between the three fundamental activities of supervision prosess (fig): teaching, observation and supervision.
The following research questions were addressed in the project:
How is practical training supervision in teacher training affected when one uses a tablet as a tool for observation and supervision?
How can the pedagogical use of a tablet in teacher training practice supervision be developed in such a way as to strengthen its quality and flexibility?
How can a tablet as a tool for observation and supervision be implemented in teacher training?
The project received support from the Norwegian Agency for Digital Learning in Higher Education, and this ended in December 2015. The project was a collaboration between the University of Agder through project manager Petter Mathisen, and the University of Tromsø (UIT) through Cato R. P. Bjørndal.
In addition, ProTed, the Centre for Professional Learning in Teacher Education, contributed to the implementation of the project, together with the University School Project at UIT and the Teacher Education Unit at UIA. These instances prepared the ground for the practical completion of the research and development work.
